Eduardo Sánchez and Gregg Hale, the filmmakers behind The Blair Witch Project, are returning with a new horror film, The Influencer Project, inspired by real-life events.

The film stars British influencer Chiara King, who has more than 1 million followers on Instagram and 4.2 million on TikTok.

Filmed in Copenhagen, the movie draws inspiration from a real-life stalking incident experienced by Chiara King. Although few details about the plot have been revealed so far, the fact that the production is based on real events has already attracted attention.
Directed by Mike Nybroe, the film has secured a deal with Variance for theatrical distribution in the United States. It is currently scheduled for release in September 2026.
The filmmakers aim to bring the influencer’s massive social media following into movie theaters. Their strategy takes inspiration from the successful independent distribution model used by Markiplier’s Iron Lung.
A horror story that begins on social media is now making its way to the big screen.
